Para Todos organized its first free Halloween costume giveaway for families in South Tucson in 2025. Over the course of a year, Abby Splittstoessr, founder, collected approximately 40 costumes in sizes ranging from 3T to youth XXL to distribute to children from families with limited resources.

Costumes included fairy wings, princess dresses, Top Gun uniforms, Ninja Turtle outfits, and Sonic costumes. One unique aspect of the program was home delivery, which helped families without reliable transportation. In one example, a single mother received a gorilla costume delivered directly to her home.

The inaugural event was covered by KGUN9, and by the time of the story, Para Todos had already served seven families, and some families returned costumes after Halloween so they could be reused. Abby shared plans to expand Para Todos’ efforts, including hosting monthly birthday parties to ensure every child has the opportunity to celebrate.

Following KGUN’s initial coverage, the South Tucson community responded with overwhelming support. Para Todos received around 60 messages from community members offering costume donations and drop‑off locations. As a result, the original collection of 40 costumes grew to more than 120.

More than 15 large bags of costumes were collected, allowing Para Todos to distribute over 120 costumes to more than 40 families at Rudy Garcia Park in just a few days. Community members even helped fill in missing sizes by purchasing additional costumes so more children could find what they wanted.

Abby emphasized that the success of the giveaway showed the power of community collaboration, noting that the effort was not about one person or organization, but about neighbors coming together to support one another.
